Origin
The Unitas Fratrum (Unity of Brethren) was founded in Bohemia in 1457 by followers of Jan Hus. Nearly destroyed by Catholic forces, the tradition was renewed in 1722 when refugees settled on Count Nikolaus von Zinzendorf's estate at Herrnhut, Germany. The Renewed Moravian Church became a pioneering Protestant missionary movement - sending missionaries to the Caribbean, Africa, and America before most other Protestants had begun.

Warm, joyful worship with strong choral tradition. Distinctive practices: the Love Feast (bread and hot drink shared in fellowship), candle services at Christmas, and the Daily Watchword. Music was foundational from the beginning.

Relationship to other denominations
